Starting from the Arrow celebrated theorem, we study the aggregation of individual preferences and social choice. We analyze the majority rule and the median voter theorem. The link between inequality, welfare and equality of opportunities will be explored. Then we will focus on the two fundamental theorems of welfare economics and we finally discuss the main equity criteria on economic environments.
