Learning outcomes

This course is an introduction to the study of macroeconomics at an advanced level. It presents the major theories concerning the central questions of macroeconomics: why do countries growth and what are the determinants of recessions and booms?

Syllabus

Long term growth: facts about economic growth. Exogenous growth. Endogenous growth.
Economic fluctuations: Facts about business cycles. The short-run model for the closed economy and for the open economy.
Incomplete information and sticky prices: Money and business cycles. The New Keynesian model.
