Syllabus

SAS is a statistical software suite developed by SAS Institute for data management, advanced analytics, multivariate analysis, business intelligence, criminal investigation, and predictive analytics. With SAS it is possible to mine, alter, manage and retrieve data from a variety of sources and perform statistical analysis on it. It also provides a graphical point-and-click user interface for non-technical users and more advanced options through the SAS language. According to independent bodies, SAS is the largest market-share holder in advanced analytics with 35.4 percent of the market as of 2013. It is the fifth largest market-share holder for business intelligence (BI) software with a 6.9% share and the largest independent vendor. SAS is largely used in the banking and insurance sector.

The course aims to provide the basics of the programming and operating philosophy of the SAS software. After the introduction of the SAS software, of its syntax and main functions, the course will focus on the following topics: data processing and manipulation techniques, report production and use of macros. The course aims at improving the computational skills of the students and at providing the knowledge of a software, which is largely used in some sectors of the job market.
